Dave Winn - Senior Minister

Timothy Gibson - Youth Minister

My name is Timothy Gibson and I have currently worked at Wilbarger Street Church of Christ for 2 years. I came on staff after finishing my bachelor’s degree in youth ministry from Lubbock Christian University. I am joined in my endeavor here by my lovely wife, Hailey, with whom I have been married for 4 years. We both attended Lubbock Christian University and got married after our sophomore year. We have done internships at 3 prior churches in Midland, Brownwood, and San Angelo. We have quite the large family, although they are all furry. We have Guinevere, Kyser, Ozzy, and Paul (the Guinea pig). Hailey is currently finishing her MA in Counseling at MSU, as well as finishing a certificate in dog training. We enjoy a variety of activities, most of which I have introduced Hailey to as a willing participant. Some of the things we enjoy are hiking, fishing, hunting (that’s mostly me), watching soccer, reading, and rock climbing. We both also enjoy and have had the opportunity to travel the world; including places like Germany, Austria, Israel, Jordan, Jamaica, Mexico, Canada, the Czech Republic, and Ukraine.

Rita Raney - Office Administrator

Actually, I was born in Vernon (a long time ago).  My parents came to Vernon in covered wagons. I grew up on a farm in the Thalia/Rayland area.  We moved to San Diego when I was 10 because a 100 acre farm wasn’t big enough anymore.  However, I left San Diego to attend Lubbock Christian and Abilene Christian.  After College I directed Head Start Centers and had some Social Work jobs.
In 1985 my friend in California, who graduated from OC, offered me a job at the San Diego Chargers.
When I interviewed for the secretary to the Coaching Office (about 15 men), they never asked me if I could type!  I didn’t know much about football at the time.  I didn’t know that my boss, Coach Don Coryell would be a football historical character like that of Tom Landry. (He invented the “I Formation” and is in the Football Hall of Fame.)  When Coach Coryell and Coach Zampese took me to lunch for my birthday, they only talked about football, therefore, I wasn’t included in the conversation. I was at the Chargers for 7 years.
Shortly after that time, my husband Chuck and I moved to Oregon to buy rental property, following Chuck’s mother’s occupation.  We were there 3 years when my parents Ben and Lucile Hopkins were becoming in need of some help.  So, we sold some of our property in Oregon to buy rental property in Vernon.  I started working in the church office in March 2001.
We have 3 daughters and 8 grandchildren.  We are raising one of our grandchildren, Jadin.  She was 2 when she arrived in Vernon; she is now 14 and starting High School.
